LAFAYETTE GARDEN CLUB HOLDS ITS ANNUAL FLOWER SHOW
Lafayette Garden Club announces finalists at its standard Flower Show “Gardens Galore,” at the Festival des Fleurs - Garden Show and Sale, held the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, March 28 and 29, at Blackham Coliseum.
The Tricolor Award, Sweepstakes, in the Design Division “Gardens with a Purpose,” titled “The Hanging Garden” was won by Cecille Revels. And the Designers’ Choice, Award of Design Excellence winner is Jeanie Richard for her “Garden in the Making - Construction Design.”
In the Horticulture Division, “Gardens for Plant Lovers,” the Sweepstakes Award for exhibitor with the most blue ribbons went to Glenda Balliviero, whose winning entries included Collector’s Showcase for Begonias, Growers Choice and Horticulture Excellence Award for container plants Clivia “Orange African Bush Lily,” and Awards of Merit for Vines, Cut Ornamental Foliage and Perennials. The Arboreal Award went to Sarah Schoeffler for her “Chinese Fringe Tree,” and to Manda Harson for her Weigela florida shrub. Charlotte Castille also received an Award of Merit for her Hybrid Tea, Floribunda Impatiens.
Division III Awards of Appreciation for Special Exhibits went to Connie Gremillion for her Educational Exhibit “Butterfly Garden,” and “Linda Beyt for
her Educational Exhibit “Garden for Birds.”

2013 Flower Show Winners
With the IRA Nelson Horticulture Center on Lafayette’s beautiful UL-L campus as venue, and
with the ladies and gentlemen of our community who shared their generosity, knowledge and
talent in horticulture and design, Lafayette Garden Club’s standard Flower Show “Forever
Blooming” was a success. The Flower Show, featuring many beautiful designs and horticulture,
was chaired by Betty Foret and Angel Broussard.
The Tricolor Award for Division II, Division A (Design), at the Flower Show, held on Saturday,
April 6, 2013, was won by Becky Latiolais for her “Blooms that Sparkle” Creative Line-Mass f
loral design. Edna Wheeler placed first for“Blooming in Glory,” a Multi-rhythmic design, and Pat
Evans placed first with“Tantalizing Blooms” Pot-et-Fleur design.
Margaret Hargroder was awarded the Sweepstakes and Designers’ Choice Awards in the
Division II, Section B. Also Cathy Andrew won first place for “The Splendor of Blooms
Reflective Design.

entries included Vines - Clematis “Duchess of Edinburg”; Trees -Chinathus retusus “Chinese

Ness, Linda Bourg Madelyn Hoyt and Maggie Chaisson.
