2013 Christmas Tea
2012 Chrismas Tea
Area members of Lafayette Garden Club and their guests enjoyed an afternoon Tea at the University
of Louisiana at Lafayette Alumni House, on Wednesday, December 12. There were lots of dainty
sandwiches, dips and spreads, pastries and cakes, along with punch, tea and coffee.
And a spectacular hydrangea arrangement graced the table.
Club members participated in this year’s Silver Bowl children’s charity fundraiser,
Hearts of Hope, formerly known as Stuller Place, a non-profit agency located in Lafayette and
provides services to many surrounding parishes. Hearts of Hope’s purpose is to raise money to help
reduce the trauma experienced by child and adult victims of abuse and assault.
After enjoying a variety of refreshments, the ladies proceeded to a presentation of honors. Club
President Roxanna Champagne acknowledged special guests, District III Director Alma “Bebe”
Ebel and Ruth Delhomme, President of New Iberia Garden Club. Membership Chair Angel Broussard,
introduced new Club members who were present at the Tea.
Angel Broussard recognized Lois Manuel and Enola Provost, who are newly inducted into
Circle of Roses, and presented them with vases of beautiful, long-stemmed red roses. Circle of Roses
is in honor of the many ladies who are in their senior years and have given their time and
t
alents to their garden clubs over many years.
Afterwards longest-standing members who have made significant contributions to Lafayette
Garden Club, namely Bera Smith and Claire Moody, were recognized by Club President Roxanna
Champagne. Ms. Champagne congratulated Marlene King and Madelyn Hoyt on their December birthdays.
Then the ladies queued up on the main foyer of the Alumni House for a group photo. As
the afternoon Tea drew to an end, the Club members and guests gradually made
their way out of the Alumni House, looking happy and ready to enjoy the upcoming
holiday celebrations.
